We were planning to head to a snowfield for a day of
skiing and snowboarding on my birthday, but after going just 2 days before and
definitely still feeling it, we decided to hold off for a little longer before going
again! When we woke up on the Saturday, some of the boys had already shot a
deer nearby, and were in the process of skinning it. Surprisingly breakfast was
still good after this! J
Even after they sawed into the deer’s head to get the antlers off…

We had some quality snuggle time with little (big?!) Kallie while Heather was out shopping, and lunch together with almost all of the Stewart family plus a couple of extras, and I had a surprise birthday cake which was lovely!

Lawrie and I planned to take a snowmobile out to the back fields to take Lawrie’s snowboard out to some snow covered bike jumps there, but there wasn’t enough fuel/gas, so glad we decided not to! Instead, we took our car… And Lawrie decided to drive it into the snowy paddock, which was needless to say disastrous! Luckily a cranky farmer from nearby came past with his tractor and towed us back out… J But in the meantime, Lawrie had fun with his snowboard on the bike jumps!

Then we headed down to High River (south of Calgary) where there was a PBR (Pro Bull Riding) rodeo that night – so we met up with a bunch of the friends and watched some pro bull riding close up, which was great!

The next day after the meeting and lunch we headed up to Edmonton with Robert and Wanda, where we went to a massive meeting with all 3 fields of friends from Edmonton, where the visiting workers from the upcoming special meetings rounds spoke – Andy Scholl (who we met in Washington), Sharon Dorey and Kevin Cowan (who we met in Australia last year!). It was a fantastic meeting, and so nice to be there! We headed back to supper at Lynlee’s (Joel’s girlfriend) parents’ place afterwards, and met the last of the immediate Stewart family – Robert and Wanda’s daughter Steph and her husband Jiles, who are expecting their first baby in January!

All in all, we had a fantastic weekend, and even though it was a pretty warm day for here, it was the coldest birthday I’ve ever had!! J
