The sunrise times for this week are about 8:30am, and sunset at about 4:30pm. So not the longest of days, and that is definitely something we're looking forward to back at home - summer length days again! But we're certainly not sick of things here!

On the 19th & 20th November we had our coldest days so far (until this week that is!), where one day was cold looking and miserable and abotu -15 or so most of the day (but pretty good compared to this week!), then the next day looked SO nice from inside, but that was obviously deceiving, as it stayed around -20 for most of the day, and got down to -27 at 8am! Then things warmed up again, to a couple of degrees above zero for a few days as a high, as a Chinook (warm air from the coast coming over the mountains) came through. Pretty variable compared to home!

Cold....
The day after the 1st minus 20 day we headed to Sunshine Village snowfield out of Banff in the Rocky Mountains, and had a fantastic day! It wasn't nearly as cold, although still pretty chilly when the sun disappeared! Snow fields in Canada look so beautiful with all of the snow covered pines (in Australia there's just not much snow, in New Zealand there aren't any trees that high!), and the snow is amazing! Although most people over here don't even bother going until after Christmas, because the snow apparently isn't worth bothering about until then! However, from our point of view the snow is amazing and so much powder just off the groomed trails!

Morning sun on the Rockies
Snow blowing across the road...
Snow plough at work
Sun on some of the mountains, with a frozen lake in front
Carpark at Sunshine Village

Heading up on the gondola from the base at Sunshine Village

So we look forward to going again soon, as we don't have a whole lot of time left here!
